A person was killed in a scuffle as supporters of two rivals upazila chairmen candidates came face to face at Bahagli Chairman para village in Kishorganj upazila of the district on Sunday.
The victim is identified as Tapan Kumar Sarker (65), son of late Upendra nath Sarker hailing from Gonesh Kutub village of Garagram union of the upazila.
Police and locals informed that supporters of ruling Awami League’s upazila chairman candidate Zakir Hossen Babul (64) also general secretary of upazila unit of the party with boat symbol were campaigning at Bahagli chairman bazaar village area situating six kilometer away from the upazila town at around 8.00 pm.
