A man was killed and 15 others were injured and six houses were torched in a clash between two rival groups over land dispute in Hologram union Chaar of Sadar upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was Nurjamal Mandal, 55, son of Bhola Mandal hailing from Holokhana.
Officer-in-charge of Kurigram Sadar Police Station SM Abdus Sobhan said when the land owner Enamul Haque, his family members and workers went to the land to cut down the ‘Kashban’, the opposition group led by Ekramul Haque attacked them with locally-made sharp weapons, killing Nurjamal on the spot.
Later, supporters of Enamul Haque torched six houses of the opposite group, he added.
On information, police rushed to the spot and arrested three people in this connection, said the OC.
