Top listed criminal of Sandwip upazila Mosharraf Hossain, 35, was killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Haramia area of Sandwip municipality on Monday. RAB also detained five of Mosharraf’s accomplices and recovered huge arms and ammunition from their possessions. RAB sources said Mosharraf was arrested from Haramia area in the morning and the elite force conducted arms recovery operations along with Mosharraf at different coastal areas of the upazila.
As the RAB team reached a spot near Haramia, the accomplices of Mosharraf locked in a gunfight with the elite force and at a certain stage Mosharraf was gunned down during exchange of fire.
