A man was allegedly killed and two others critically injured in a reported gunfight with Detective Branch (DB) of Police in city’s Bhatara area under Badda thana early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Lavlu, 50, succumbed to his injuries around 4:00am at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Mashiur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of DB (North) confirmed the matter and said that police arrested few suspects in separate raids in the different parts of the city yesterday.
When they were facing interrogation, they informed the law enforcers that a gang of robbers is preparing for a robbery.
Based on their information, a team of DB conducted the drive in the area around 1:00am.
Four robbers from a microbus opened fire on the law enforcers to escape. In the skirmish, three criminals were shot and another managed to flee the scene, the DC said.
The two other injured criminals were identified as Selim, 41, and Kamal, 45. They are now undergoing treatment at the hospital under police custody. Police also recovered two pistols and several bullets from the spot, said Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Badda Police Station.
