One brother was killed and another was seriously injured when an armed clash took place between the two rival groups of people in the village Ujalkur under Rampal Upazila in Bagerfhat district on Wednesday afternoon over a trifling matter. The deceased brother is Md. Omar Faruk Shaikh (42) and the injured is Md. Mijan Shaikh (48). They are the sons of one Amir Ali of the same village. Being informed of he police of Rampal visited the place of occurrence.
Radheshyam Sarkar, Inspector (investigation) of Rampal PS told, an enmity had been prevailing between Ali Shaikh and his brother Kamal Shaikh (sons of one Siddiq Shaikh) of the same village and Omar Faruq and his brother Mijan Shaikh ( sons of one Amir Ali) of the village over the possession of a disputed land. On the day of occurrence following the taking (eating) of standing paddy from a paddy field by ducks of the opponents Ali Shaikh and his associates armed with various weapons including knives attacked on Omar Faruq and his brother Mijan Shaikh. As result, both the brotghers were fatally injured. They were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital where Omar Faruq succumbed to his injuries while he was being given treatment. Police recovered the dead body from the Hospital. Police of Rampal were trying to arrest thed culprits.
