A dacoit was killed and seven others, including a woman, were injured in a gunfight with police at east Gungari Union of Banshkhali Upazila of Chittagong.Identity of the dead person could not be known immediately.Banshkhali Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Swapan Kumar Mazumder told that a gang of dacoit attacked the house of one Babul member, near to Gunagari Degree Collage of Banshkhali around 1:00am on Monday..
On information, police conducted operation to nab the gang of dacoits around 1:15am. During the time, a dacoit was caught in the line of fire, leaving him dead on the spot. On the other hand, six people, including two police officials, sustained wound by bullets fired by the dacoits. Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost sub-inspector Pankaj Barua told this reporter that five people, who received injuries by bullet in the aforesaid gunfight, were admitted at the hospital. The injured are Abdul Karim, 35, Abdur Rahim, 32, Mosammat Pakhi Akter, 28, Mohammad Khaled, 25 and Shaheda Akter, 28.
