One killed, 20 injured in Narsingdi clash

A man was killed and 20 others were injured in a clash between two rival groups of ruling Awami League at Sadar Kandi in Raipura upazila of the district over establishing supremacy in the area on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Kadir, 50, son of Abdur Rahim, hailing from Sadagar Kandi village of the district.
Sub-Inspector of Raipura Police Station, Shakhawat Hossain, said that there had been a longstanding dispute between two local AL leaders – Shamsu and Kabir – over establishing dominance in the area.
The supporters of the two rival groups engaged in altercation at 9am which later led to a fierce clash, leaving Kadir critically injured.
Kadir succumbed to his injuries on way to local hospital, said the SI.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
The injured were taken to local hospitals. Of them, critically injured Bhutto Mia was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
