A person was killed and 20 others injured as two group locked in a factional clash centring recruitment of the Imam in a mosque in Sultanshi village ofsadarupazila on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Badsha Mia, 70, of the village.
Locals said two groups of people locked in an altercation in a meeting arranged to discuss over the issue of recruiting the Imam around 6 pm.
At one stage, two agitated group started to fight each other with bamboo sticks, leaving Badsha Mia dead on the spot.
On information, police rushed there and brought the situation under control, said Yeasin Haque, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
