One person was killed and two others were sustained burn injuries as a TV set at a house in Dhaka’s Mirpur Journalist Housing Society suddenly exploded at around 7.30am on Tuesday, said Pallabi Police Station SI Shahidul Islam.
The injured were admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), he said. They were identified as businessman ‘Arefin’, 27, and hawkers ‘Mona’, 30, and ‘Minara’, 35.
Of them, Arefin’s condition was critical, the SI said.
The hawkers went to Arefin’s house in the morning when the explosion took place. Three of them were burnt, the police official said. They were rushed to the DMCH, he said. Cause of the explosion is not yet known.
