A college student was killed and two of his friends were injured in a road accident on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway at Satkania upazila of the district on Monday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Imran Hossain, 18, a student of city’s BEPZA College and hailed from the Bandartila area.
Police and eyewitness sources said Imran died on the spot and his two friends were injured when their motorbike overturned on the highway in front of Dream House Community Centre in Rastar Matha area around 4pm.
Attending doctors declared Imran dead when he was admitted to As-Shefa Clinic while the injured were being treated there, the sources said, adding that the three friends were returning to Chittagong city from Cox’s Bazar by a motorbike.1
Another report adds: At least 15 people were injured when a bus plunged into road side ditch at Maijjartek area under Karnafuli Thana of the district town on Tuesday morning.
The injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Shah Alam, assistant sub-inspector of Karnafuli Thana said, a passenger bus plunged into road side ditch in the area around 10:30am when its driver lost control over the steering, leaving at least 15 passengers injured.
