One killed, 15 injured over land dispute at Srimangal

A housewife was killed and 15 others were injured in a clash between two rival groups over land-related dispute at Motiganj village in Srimangal upazila of Moulvibazar district 12.30pm on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sabana Begum, 33, wife of Joynal Miah a resident of the village.
Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Srimangal Police Station, said there was a longstanding dispute between Sabana Begum and step brother Muzzamel Haque, 45, over the possession of a piece of land in the village.
As a sequel to their conflict, supporters of Joynal Miah, 45, and Muzzamel Haque attacked each other at about 12pm triggering a bloody clash between the two rival groups that left 16 inured injured.
Of the injured, five in critical condition including Sabana Begum were admitted to Srimangal Upazila Health Complex. Then doctor declared her to dead.
Police recovered the body and sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. After the incident Muzzamel Haque was hiding, he added.
