Ansar camp attacked in Teknaf: One killed, 11 firearms, ammos looted

A gang of armed goons launched a terror attack on an Ansar camp, killing an Ansar personnel and looting at least 11 firearms and ammunitions at a Rohingya refugee camp in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district early Friday.
The ill-fated member of law enforcing agencies identified as Mohammad Ali Hossain, 55, was in-charge of the Ansar camp in Nayapara area of the upazila. Son of late Sukkur Ali, Ali Hossain hailed from Sakhifur of Tangail district.
Talking to The New Nation, Abul Quashem, in charge of Nayapara police outpost, said that the armed men killed Ali Hossain and looted 11 firearms and bullets at about 3am on Friday.
According to local people and police, a gang of miscreants equipped with sophisticated firearms came out from Nayapara
registered refugee camp and launched attack on the Ansar camp at Shalbagan adjacent to the C and D Block in the remote hilly area of the district.  
“As Ali Hossain identified some members of the goons, they first tied him and his colleague Alamgir Hossain with rope. They were on duty there. They first shot Ali Hossain to death looted 11 firearms and bullets from the armoury of the camp,” police official Abul Quashem said.
Police said, the armed goons are involved in various crimes in and around the dense forest. After killing the Anasr personnel and looting the firearms, they escaped through the dense hilly forest of the area.
When contacted Md Abdul Majid, Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf Police Station said that they had recovered the body.
“Since the incident, police and other members of law enforcing agencies launched a massive hunt to net the criminals,” he said.
Additional members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police have been deployed in the area.
