‘One house one farm’ benefits one crore people: Mosharraf

LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain yesterday said over one crore poor people of 22 lakh families across the country are being benefited from the “One House One Farm Project”, the dream scheme of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He said this while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh in the Jatiya Sangsad. “The project was implemented in 40,527 villages of 485 upazilas at a cost Taka 2,6,89 crore 35.76,000 lakh from July 2009 – June 2016,” he said. The project was identified as ‘Special Initiative of Sheikh Hasina – 1’, he said adding, the average income of the beneficiaries is now Taka 10,921.
Over the last seven years, the minister said, the permanent fund of the beneficiaries stood at Tk 3,073 crore while savings of the beneficiaries were Tk 973 crore. Taka 1,954 crore is government’s subsidy while Taka 146 crore came from bank interest service charge. Engineer Mosharraf also said that one of the philosophies of the “One House, One Farm Project” is -“Pay debt from earning”.
