Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital arrested a young man along with 2,40,000 Saudi Arabian Riyal and 25,000 UAE Dirham on Monday night. The arrestee was identified as Juwel, 30. Assistant commissioner (customs) Ghulam Mustafa Kamal of the airport said Jewel’s flight was scheduled to depart for Singapore at
about 10:30pm. The customs officials found the Saudi and UAE currencies after searching the body of Jewel while entering the airport through the gate No-6 around 9:00pm, said Ghulam Mustafa Kamal. Total amount of the two types of currency will be around Tk52.40 lakh.
