One held with Indian Rupees at HSIA

Customs Intelligence officials in a drive seized a huge amount of counterfeit Indian Rupees worth around Tk one crore from a Pakistani flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the city on Wednesday.
They arrested a Pakistani national in this connection. The arrested man was identified as Mohammad Ali, 30.
Customs Intelligence Department’s Assistant Commissioner Israt Jahan Ruma said that a team of customs officials conducted a drive in the airport following an information when Ali was leaving the airport through the Green Channel
around 12:15pm. They raided Ali’s luggage and found the Indian Currency from his possession.
He landed at airport in Dhaka from Islamabad around 11:45am by a flight of Pakistani International Airlines, the AC said.
He is being interrogated, the customs official said.
A case has been filed with Airport Police Station, she said.
