Customs Intelligence yesterday arrested a youth with 14 gold bars and 13 gold rings worth about Taka 75 lakh from Hazrat Shahjalal (R ) International Airport (HSIA) here, police and customs officials said.
HM Ahsanul Kabir, assistant commissioner (AC) of the Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation, told BSS that
the members of their preventive team of customs arrested Mohammad Faruk Hossain from Green Channel area of HSIA at 11 am.
“The customs officials interrogated Faruk for his suspicious movement and later searched his body and luggage where 14 gold bars and 13 gold rings weighing about 1 kg and 462 grams of gold were found,” he added.
The detainee arrived here from Thailand by a flight of Thai Airways (TG-321) in the morning.
A case was filed in this connection.
