Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a young man along with a touchstone Bishnu statue from Maizgaon area of Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar district on Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Badrul Islam, 24, son of Monajjir Ali, a resident of the village.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Main Uddin of Rab-9 said Badrul stole the touchstone statue of Hindu god Bishnu from a temple of Basudeb house at the village and kept in his house.
Being tipped off, Rab conducted a raid on Badrul’s house in the afternoon and arrested him.
They also recovered the statue.
