Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) – 5 arrested an alleged illegal arms trader with a USA made pistol, a magazine and six rounds of bullets from Dadanchak Ghat area under Shibganj upazila of the district on Thursday evening.
The arrested person was identified as Md Babu, 26, son of late Abu Bakar Siddiqui of Koilardiar village under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district.
RAB sources said, acting on secret information, an operation team of RAB-5 from Chapainawabganj camp raided the aforesaid area at around 7.30 pm and arrested Babu with the arms and ammunition.
Later, he was handed over to the police of Shibganj Thana.
