Police arrested a passenger along with five gold bars worth around Tk 20 lakh at Kamalapur Railway Station on Monday morning.
The arrested man was identified as Palash, 22, son of Dipak, a resident of Kachua in Chandpur.
Kamalapur Government Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Majid said, “A team of police challenged Palash, when he got down from the
‘Turna Nishitha Express’ coming from Chittagong around 6:45am. Later, the law enforcers recovered five pieces of gold bars after searching his body and arrested him.”
The market value of the seized gold bars estimated at Tk 20 lakh, the GRP official said.
The arrested man is being interrogated in this connection, the OC said.
A case was filed regarding the matter, he said.
