Customs officials arrested a man along with 30 gold bars, weighting three kg, from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early Sunday.
The arrestee was identified as Saim Ahmed, 40, a resident of Munshiganj district. Tipped off, the customs officials searched Saim as he arrived from Malaysia around 12:05am and seized the gold bars hidden in his sandals, said Orindam Chakma, assistant director of the department. He was later handed over to Airport Police Station.
