Staff Reporter :Police arrested a young man with 29,000 pieces of Yaba pills in the city’s Sutrapur area on Thursday night.The arrested man has been identified as Sabbir Hossain, 26, police said.Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Wari Diviion) Deputy Commissioner Syed Nurul Islam said that a team of police intercepted Sabbir when he was going to Shyam Bazar by a motorcycle with the Yaba tablets.Police seized his motorbike from in front ofFarashganj Bibika Mazar, A case had been filed in this connection, the police official said.Meanwhile, Police in their anti-drug drives arrested 43 suspected drug peddlers in the capital in 24 hours.Dhaka Metropolitan Police Headquarters said that police conducted drives at Ramna, Lalbagh, Wari, Tejgaon, Mirpur and Gulshan on Wednesday and Thursday morning.Police recovered 877 pieces of Yaba tablets, 56 bottles of Phensidyl syrup, 1247 sachets of heroin (Brown sugar), 101.8 kg of hemp and 388 cans of beer from their possession.
