Customs Intelligence arrested a man and recovered 28 gold bars, weighing 3.26 kg, from his possession at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday morning.
The arrested man has been identified as Md Bahar (48), an inhabitant of Laksham thana in Comilla district.
Customs Deputy Director Mustafizur Rahman said
that Bahar arrived from Dubai by an aircraft of Emirates Airlines at about 8:14 am. Acting on a tip off, Customs officials challenged him when he was passing the green channel of the airport, he said. After searching his body, they recovered 28 gold bars worth about Tk 1.5 crore, he said. The detainee has been taken to Airport police station for interrogation.
