Customs officials yesterday afternoon arrested a Kuwait returned passenger along with nine gold bars weighing one kilogram worth about Taka 50 lakh from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here.
“We arrested one Shafiqul Islam, 45, of Dohar in Dhaka district along with the gold bars weighing 10 tolas each from green channel area of the airport around 12:30 this afternoon,” assistant commissioner SM Shamsuzzaman of airport customs told BSS. The estimated value of the seized gold is Taka 50 lakh, he also said.
