Police arrested a man along with 1,000 litres of sulfuric acid from a shop in front of Rajmahal Cinema Hall in the district town on Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Jaharul Haque,26, son of Hazrat Ali, a resident of Shiala Colony of the town.
Sub-inspector of Sadar Model Police Station Khairul Islam said tipped off, a team of police conducted a raid at the shop ‘Saba Trade House’ in the area in the afternoon.
Later, the law enforcers recovered 36 containers full of sulfuric acid and arrested the shop worker Jaharul. Police said the shop owners Awal, son of Jobdul Haque, and Tariful Haque, son of Abdur Rashid, both residents of Behula village in Sadar upazila, remained absconding.
