Counter Terrorism Unit police in the port city rounded up Sirajul Islam (58) from New Market area in the city for alleged comment on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with harsh words in facebook status .
He was arrested on Thursday afternoon. The detained identified as Sirajul Islam and an activist of BNP, police said. Additional deputy police commissioner of Chattogram Mr Alok Biswas confirmed the news to media yesterday.
Detained Sirajul is the son of one Moulvi Bashir uddin of Kotalipara of Gopalgonj district who resides at ICE Factory road under Sadarghat thana in city.
He introduced himself as a worker of BNP. Addl. Deputy Commissioner of Police of Counter Terrorism Unit Mr.Polash KantiNath told that Sirajul was arrested for his defamatory status in face book against Prime Minister and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, he was arrested from New Market area .
A case under ICT Act-57 was lodged before the Kotwali thana of CMP , sources said.
