A man in his thirties was held at Jaintapur of Sylhet on Saturday night pertaining to abduction of a girl, eight hours after the girl was reportedly kidnap by the man.
Police said they arrested Al Amin, son of Azir Uddin of village Umanpur at Chiknagul union at Jaintapur.
Jaintapur police sub-inspector Indranil Bhattacharya Rajon told that Al Amin kidnapped the girl, who is his neighbour, from near her house at 2:00pm on Saturday.
Acting on complaint, police raided a house of a relative of Al Amin at Takurmati, a nearby village of the Umanpur, at about 8:00pm and rescued the victim from the house, sub-inspector Rajon said.
Al Amin was also caught during that time, he added.
Jaintapur police officer-in-charge Shyamal Banik said that the victim was handed over to her family after she had filed a case with the police.
‘Al Amin was placed before the district judicial magistrate court on Sunday afternoon and the court sent him to judicial custody,, the police maintained.
