A special tribunal here on Monday sentenced one Ohid to life imprisonment and fined him Taka one lakh in a case lodged for raping a six-year old girl.
Judge Md Alamgir Kabir of Faridpur Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal passed the order today.
The convict Ohid Biswas, 28, is the son of Liakat Biswas of village Kamar under Boalmari upazilla in Faridpur.
According to the case documents, Ohid raped the child by luring her to a neighbor’s house in the morning of November 16, 2016. Hearing her scream, the child’s mom came to rescue and saw Ohid fleeing the scene. The child was later admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Victim’s mother filed the case on that day and police on the same night managed to arrest the rapist.
