One gets life term for abducting child

A Chittagong court in a verdict here today awarded life term imprisonment to a criminal for abducting a six-year old child at Karnaphuli thana in the city on January 23 in 2009.
The Judge of Chittagong Women and Child Repression Tribunal-1 Mohammad Rezaul Karim delivered the judgment today convicting the accused Muslem Uddin.
The prosecution story in brief is that the convicted person in the evening on January 23 in 2009 abducted Tahmina, daughter of Jannatul Ferdouse, hailed from Shah Mirpur area under Karnaphuli thana. Later, the abductors demanded Taka one lakh six thousand from the victim’s Mother as ransom. Victim’s mother Jannatul Ferdouse, filed a case with Karnaphuli thana against Muslem Uddin in connection with the abduction.
Later, police arrested the abductor from Bhola district and rescued the child.
The court examined a total of eight prosecution witnesses in the trial process and held the accused person responsible for the crime, sources said. The court also fined Taka 50 thousand to the abductor Muslem Uddin.
