A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for abducting and raping a teenager of Shatghar area at Shibalaya in Manikganj by a court judge. He was also fined Tk 50,000.
The verdict was announced by District Women and Children Tribunal Judge Begum Tania Kamal around 3:30 pm on Monday. The accused was absent when the verdict was announced. The accused is Tutul, son of Abdul Mannan Sheikh ofSribari area of Ghiorupazila of district.
According to the summary of the case, Tutul abducted and raped a teenager from SatgharTeota area of Shibalayaupazila of the district on the night of November 22, 2012. The girl’s father filed a complaint with the police station accusing 8 people in the incident.
