A Chittagong court here on Tuesday awarded death sentence to a person for murdering his colleague Nur Khaleque Master, a life insurance employee in April, 2004 of the district. The Judge of Chittagong Public Safety Trial Tribunal Mohammad Mominullah, delivered the verdict convicting one Asharf Hossain, hailing from Fatichhari thana in the district. The court however, acquitted victim’s colleague Golam Mostafa Kalu of the charges.
The prosecution story is in brief that Nur khaleque Master, branch in-charge of Golden Life Insurance terminated the job of Asharf Hossain and Golam Mostafa Kalu from the insurance company for involving themselves in corruption while collecting life insurance money from the subscribers.
Asharf Hossain with the help of Golam Mostafa Kalu stabbed Nur Khalegue Master to death at Karbalahtila area under Fatichhari upazila on April 2 in 2004.
Victim’s father Mohammad Denish Mia filed a murder case against Asharf Hossain and Golam Mostafa Kalu for killing his son after the incident. Police submitted the charge sheet accusing Asharf and Kalu before the court on October 2 the same year. The court delivered the verdict after examining 11 prosecution witnesses.
