One gets 14- yr imprisonment for abducting girl in Barishal

A Barishal court on Sunday awarded 14 years imprisonment to an accused for abducting a school girl of Agoiljhara in 2007.
Abu Shamim Azad, judge of the tribunal for preventing torture against women and children, announced the verdict in absentia of the fugitive accused Bappi Baroi, 26, after examining 8 witnesses and other documents.
Ajibor Rahman, bench clerk of the court, said the fugitive accused Bappi Baroi was son of Aboni Baroi of Marandi village of Agoiljhara upazila, was fined 10 thousand taka or to be imprisoned for more six months in default .
The story in brief was the victim was a student of class-X at local school and the accused abducted her on way to school on March 15, 2007 and brought to Kamalapur railway station for going to Chattogram by rail.
However, the victim managing to flee away boarding on another train reached to Sylhet, where her father was engaged in service.
Then mother of the victim as complainant lodged an abduction case accusing Bappi and his brother Ujjal on March 20, 2007 with Agoiljhara police station.
Sub Inspector Akhtaruddin Khan, investigation officer of the case acquitting Ujjal filed charge sheet against accused Bappi on May 6, 2007, court sources said.
