One farmer named Delbar Hossain (30) was killed and another farmer named Milon Hossain (28) was injured in a thunderstorm in Kalaroa of Satkhira. The thunderstorm happened at Jalalabad ground in the upazila on Saturday (August 24) around 7.30am.
The deceased was identified as Delbar Hossain, son of Duffadar of Ekra village and son of Mandar Molla of Jalalabad village.
Jalalabad Union Awami League General Secretary Sheikh Moslem Ahmed said they were planting Aman paddy on the land along with two others in the pouring rain from Saturday morning. At that time, lightning flashed in the sky. At one point, a sudden lightning struck Delbar’s head and killed him on the spot, and Milan Hossain, who was in the adjoining land, was seriously injured. The injured is currently undergoing treatment at Klaroa Hospital.
Kolaroa police officer-in-charge Munir-ul-Gias confirmed the incident.
