One person was killed when he fell under water on Saturday night on the way while returning home after attending a wedding party Dampara area in Chittagong.
The body of the victim was recovered from Chaktai canal this morning. The victim was identified as Shilabroto Barua (60). He was the account officer of Kaokhali upazila in Rangamati.
According to the sources in police and family members of the victim, Shilabroto Barua was attended a wedding party at Royal Garden at Dampara in the city.
He fell in the deep water as the roads were inundated by rain water and at last he went to the flow of water of canal at Bakolia. A family member said, “Shilabroto Barua could not feel the depth of water and fell into the canal causing his death.”
However, the body of the victim was recovered from Chaktai canal. Officer in Charge of Bakolia thana Pronob Chowdhury said, “Police recovered the body of the victim from Chaktai canal.
The body was sent to morgue for autopsy.”It may be mentioned that roads were inundated due to the heavy torrential rains.
