One died and three others of the family, including two children, were burnt when a gas cylinder exploded at a flat in city’s Badda area on Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Sahid Hasan. Three burnt injured are Rekha Akter, wife of Sahid, and their children Safa and Safian.
They were rushed to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
According to source, the gas cylinder exploded in the kitchen of a room on the third floor of a residential building.
After the incident, two units of Baridhara Fire Station went to the spot to douse the fire.
Victim’s relative Rajib said, his uncle Sahid lives at Beraid area in Badda Natun Bazar. The incident took place early Wednesday.
Dr SM Aiyub Hosen, resident doctor of the Burn and Plastic
Surgery unit, said deceased Sahid suffered 95% burn injuries, Rekha 30%, Safa 11% and Safian 25%. Three injured are receiving treatment at the emergency department.
Md Bachchu Miah, In-charge of Dhaka Medical College & Hospital police camp, confirmed the news to the New Nation on Wednesday night.
