One motor cyclist named Jubayer Hossain (30) was arrested along with 4 kgs venison by a smart team of the forest guards of Sharankhola Forest Range under the Eastern Division of Sundarbans (in Bagerhat district) from Matherpar (Nalbunia)-Battala area of Sharankhola Upazila on Wednesday at noon, according to a delayed report received here. At that time the forest guards seized the motor cycle and a bag contained with the venison. On the same day the arrestee was sent to the court at Bagerhat district headquarters.
It is learnt from a source of the forest department that acting on secret information the members of the smart team laid in ambush at the place on Wednesday at noon and about 1-30 pm they found one motor cyclist was going towards Morrelganj from the area the forest guards halted him. Then they searched the motor cycle and recovered a bag contained with catch, carrying and selling banned 4 kgs deer-flesh. Forest guards seized the motor cycle and the venison and took him to Forest Range headquarters. The arrested person is a professional poacher of deer and seller of the same. He is the son of one late Moniruzzaman of village Monirampur under Paikgacha Upazila in Khulna district.
The source added, after recording a case under Forest Act he was sent the court. It may be mentioned here that on Monday morning a smart team of Sharankhola forest Range seized a trawler along with venison from the poachers at Dubla Fishermen Village.
