Gafargaon police have arrested an accused in a rape case. He was sent to Mymensingh Jail on Saturday. According to the police, Sadiqul Islam alias Rajab (22) was arrested by the Gafargaon police in a case under the Women and Child Abuse Suppression Act from Rasulpur Bharvara village of Rasulpur union in the upazila on Saturday early morning. Gafargaon Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Farooq Ahmed said the arrested accused was handed over to Mymensingh court.
Farmer burnt body recovered
Pagla police recovered the burnt body of a farmer from a pepper field in Lamkain Purbapara Nadirpar area of Panchbhag Union around 11:30 am on Saturday in Gafargaon. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Azizul Haque, 26, son of Mohammad Asad Miah of the area.
According to local and family sources, farmer Md. Azizul Haque went out of his house in the rain on Friday evening and went missing.The next day, at around 11:30 am locals saw the body lying in a pepper field 300 yards away from his house and informed the police.
