Sylhet Bureau :
A Bangladeshi expatriate in Brazil was arrested in Sylhet on Wednesday over his ‘abusive comments’ made on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a 2015 video posted on YouTube and mobile phone applications.
The arrestee was identified as Khaled Ahmad Badsha, 51, son of Habib Ali of Hatirtila village under Beanibazar upazila in the Sylhet district, the police said. Police officials said that the locals were outraged when Badsha came back to the country and the police arrested him early Wednesday from his village home.
Beanibazar police officer-in-charge Shahjalal Munshi said that Badsha had admitted during police interrogation that he spread the video in 2015, which went viral.
