Asian Games Hockey Qualifiers: Oman emerge Group A champions

Oman emerged the Group A champions when the defeated Qatar by 3-1 goals in their last Group A match of the Islami Bank Asian Games Hockey Qualifying Hockey Tournament at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.
Oman gained maximum nine points from three matches of Group A while Sri Lanka became Group A runners-up bagging four points from as many matches.
On the other hand, Bangladesh took the top spot in Group B securing maximum six points from two matches.
Ali Nofli of Oman got a ball in the goal mouth melee of Qatar and he put his team ahead by a forceful hit in the 14th minute of the first half.
In the 23rd minute of the play, Ali Sheraz leveled the margin when he got the ball in the Oman danger zone and Sheraz equalized the margin by pushing the ball into the net.
Bait Ashoor of Oman doubled the margin using a penalty corner in the 35th minute of the match.
After the interval Bait Awad M Abdullah sealed the fate of the match by a field goal at the dying moment.
Ali Sheraz of Qatar was adjudged the Man of the Match.
