Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) observed Olympic Day Run in the capital and across the country on Friday in a befitting manner as part of the IOC’s global programme to popularize Olympic movement.
The Day Run, aiming to establish peace all over the World through Sports, started from Ramna Tennis Complex at 7 am and terminated at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) after parading Engineers Institute, Foreign Ministry, Press Club, Baitul Mukarram Mosque and National Sports Council areas.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder attended the programme as the chief guest while Bangladesh Olympic Association Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza was present as special guest.
Near about 2,500 sports lovers, player and organisers of different federations, associations, clubs, Bangladesh Krira Shikkah Prothistan, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP took part in the Day Run which was remained open to all sports-loving people. A cultural function was also arranged at BNS after the day run programme.
On the occasion of Olympic Day run, the BOA organised blood donation at BNS and painting competition at Sheikh Russel Roller Skating Complex. Near about 200 children took part in the competition.
The prize distribution ceremony of art competition, seminar and unveil of Olympic book will be taken place at BOA auditorium on Saturday.
