Staff Reporter :
Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Chairman Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmed submitted his wealth statement to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday.
In the middle of this month, ACC Deputy Director Golam Faruk sent a notice asking movable and immovable wealth statement of him and his dependents.
The Commission in its primary investigation found evidence of illegal wealth allegedly earned by him.
While leaving the Commission head office, Oli Ahmed, also leader of 20-party alliance, told the media that he had to go there to place wealth statement as he rejected the proposal to be a minister of the current government. “It is nothing but a political issue”.
Someone lodged a compliant against him in 1996 that he amassed illegal wealth. “That is why, the Commission served me a notice”, Oli Ahmed said and “I came to this office to submit the statement”.
“I submit my income returns to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) every year. The NBR knows well how much wealth belongs to me”.
“If the NBR had found any anomaly in my returns, it would have sent notice to me”, he went on saying.
He affirmed that he had not earned money dishonestly.
