Priyabala Mistry (75), an old widow woman of village Gopalpur within Chingrakhali Union Parishad under Morrelganj Upaazila in Bagerhat district was killed by some unknown assailants in her house on Tuesday night, according to a delayed report received here.
police and locals said that she was the wife of one late Amulya Bala Mistry. At the night she was sleeping in her house alone and about 12 pm some unknown assailants entered the house by breaking open its plinth and strangulated her to death, looted some valuables and fled away.
On the following day at about 12 am some neighbouring people found the dead body lying on the floor of the house. Then they informed the police of the matter. Police of Morrelganj PS visited the place of occurrence at about 3-30 pm, recovered the dead body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Anjan Mistry, grand son of the deceased disclosed, after the marriage of her 2 daughters she had been living alone in her residence. In this connection a case was registered with the local PS. Police investigation is going on to arrest the culprits and unearth the motive behind the murder.
