An old woman was found dead and floating in the pond beside her dwelling house at Malapara village under HajiganjUpazila on Monday at noon. Locals spotted her body floating in the pond and informed the Police.
The deceased woman was identified as Sufiya Begum, 65, deserted by husband and had no children of her own. She used to live alone in her father ‘s home here-said OC Alamgir Hossain after returning from the spot.
On getting information from the locals, OC along with force from Hajiganj Thana rushed to the spot and recovered the body in the afternoon and later , sent it to Chandpur General Hospital morgue for post mortem at 5 pm in the afternoon.
Hajiganj Thana OC Alamgir Hossain said , a UD case was filed in this connection. But how she died could be known after getting the report of the post mortem.
