An old woman was beaten to death by neighbor over land dispute on Sunday morning.
Victim Abola Rani, 70, was wife of Dhirendra Chandra Das of North Rahamatpur area under Babuganj Upazila of the district.
Officer -In- Charge of Barishal Airport Police Station quoting local people said both groups have old rivalries over land properties.
Tapos Chandra Das, son of Abola Rani, recently rented a room constructed on the disputed land to a member of excluded Community.
Family members of neighbouring Rojina and Helena engaged in altercation with family members of Abola Rani over this issue on Sunday morning.
At that time one of the agitated neighbors hit on head of Abola Rani with a stick and she became senseless.
Then Abola was rushed to Barishal Sher-E- Bangla Medical College Hospital, where attending doctor declared her as dead.
Till this report no case was lodged and alleged killers managed to flee from the scene.
The dead body sent to morgue for autopsy, police sources added.
