Local people here on Wednesday rescued an old man who had been abducted seven months back from Kushabari village in Magura Sadar upazila.
The victim was identified as Sadar Uddin Molla of Kushabaria village in Magura sadar upazila.
Police said Sadar had been at loggerheads with Lutfar Rahman Didang, hailing form the same village, over some social issues.
On April 8, Lutfur’s men abducted Sadar Uddin form his home at night and demanded ransom from his family.
Later the victim’s wife Ayesha Khatun filed a case with Magura Police Station in connection with the incident.
Police arrested the main accused Manu Miah and sent him to court.
Meanwhile, after seven months of the abduction, locals spotted Sadar in an abandoned place and sent him to Magura Sadar Hospital.
On information, police rushed to the hospital and brought Sadar to the police station.
Sadar, while giving statement to police under the section 161 of the Penal Code, said the accused had picked up him and taken him to an unknown place and tortured him for ransom.
