A 70 years old man was allegedly beaten to death with a rod in Katiadi town of Kishoreganj on Sunday afternoon over family feud. The victim was identified as Nuru Mia (70), a retired Naik Subeder in Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB).
According to relatives and local sources, Nuru Mia retired from the job many years ago. Since then he has been living permanently in his ancestral home in Katiadi Muncipality. He has three daughters.
Everyone is married. Six months ago, his wife Julekha Begum died in a road accident. From then on, Nuru lived alone at home. Nur’s step-sister is Nur Nahar Begum.
Nur Nahar was married to Shamsu Mia of the same area. Nuru wanted to build a house in his ancestral place two months ago.
He chose a place adjacent to the present house to build the house. But the place Nur Nahar claimed it her own place.
There is a dispute between the brother and sister about this. There have been several arbitrators in this regard. The arbitrator’s verdict was in favor of Nuru Mia. Nuru Mia started building the house Sunday afternoon.
On hearing this news, Nur Nahar’s men went and beat him with a rod and seriously injured him.
He died before being rescued and taken to the Upazila Health Complex in critical condition.
Nuru Mia’s brother-in-law Manzil Mia said the main reason for the sibling dispute was family property.
Katiadi OC (Investigation) Shafiul Islam told the New Nation that the body was sent to Kishorganj General Hospital mourge for autospy.
No case has been field yet, no one was arrested, OC (Investigation) added.
