The Imams, Khatibs, Olama-Mashaekh and Islamic Thinkers could take the responsibility of bringing back the derailed youths to the right track from militancy through properly explaining Islam, the religion of peace.
The views were expressed yesterday at a day-long discussion cum training workshop on ‘Call of Islam in Resisting Terrorism and Militancy’ organised by Rangpur divisional office of the Islamic Foundation at Zila School auditorium in Rangpur. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police Khondker Golam Faruk attended the event as the chief guest with Divisional Director of the Islamic Foundation Md Abul Kalam Azad in the chair.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Md Abdul Mazid, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr ATM Mahbubul Karim, General Secretary of district Awami League Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju and its Organising Secretary Alhaj Motahar Hossain Mandal Mowla addressed as the special guests. Khatib of Rangpur Court Jam-e-Mosque Moulana Hafizul Islam and Khatib of Badarganj Jam-e-Mosque Moulana Jahangir Alam delivered separate presentations in the discussion cum training workshop as resource persons.
The Khatibs and Pesh Imams of different mosques, heads of different madrashas and educational institutions, public representatives and political leaders from allover the district participated in the discussion cum training workshop.
The speakers laid emphasis on preaching and explaining the real meaning of Islam so that the derailed youths could come back to the right path leaving militancy, terrorism and wrong concept pushed into their mind about the religion of Islam.
Terming Islam as the religion of peace, they said some vested quarters have engaged all-out efforts to destroy the decency, beauty and real meaning of Islam through conducting terrorist and militant activities and killing of the innocent people.
The chief guest said the Khatibs and Imams should not only deliver ‘Khutba’ to create resistance against militancy before the Juma Prayers, but they should provide proper explanation about Islam whenever and wherever they get opportunities on any occasion.
“The Khatibs, Imams and Olama-Mashaekhs should take the prime responsibility and play most important role to save Islam and bring back the derailed youths from militancy and terrorism through preaching real meaning of Islam,” he said.
