The death reference in a case filed for killing of special branch officer Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman reached the High Court on Thursday for examining the verdict of a tribunal that sentenced death penalty to their daughter Oishee Rahman.
Additional Registrar of the High Court Sabbir Fayez made the disclosure while talking to reporters in the afternoon.
He said, “The death reference of Oishee has reached the High Court. But I am yet to see the document.”
On November 12, the Speedy Trial Tribunal-3 on awarded double death sentences to Oishee Rahman in a case filed over killing of her parents -special branch officer Mahfuzur Rahman and Swapna Rahman.
Judge Syed Ahmed of the tribunal passed the order at noon in presence of Oishee and two other accused-Mizanur Rahman Rony and Asaduzzaman Jony, also friends of Oishee-in the case.
On August 16, 2013, police had recovered the bodies of SB inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman from their Chamelibagh residence in the capital.
Later, Oishee had surrendered to the police confessing to her involvement in the killing.
Police also arrested the domestic help of the couple’s house, Khadiza Akhter Sumi, and Oishee’s two friends Asaduzzaman and Mizanur in connection with the murder.
Mahfuzur’s brother Mohammad Mashiur Rahman Rubel had filed a case with Paltan police station on August 17.
