Oishee did not kill her parents, says complainant

Oishee Rahman’s uncle and complainant of the Special Branch Police Inspector Mahfuz and his wife murder case told a Dhaka court yesterday (Tuesday) that Oishee did not kill her parents.
The witness said that some miscreants killed Mahfuz and his wife. The prosecution witness and detained Oishee became emotional in the courtroom and embraced each other after the deposition was recorded. However, on the occasion, the emotional uncle and niece could not exchange any word for few moments.Earlier, in the morning Oishee and her friends, Asaduzzaman Jony and Mizanur Rahman Rony, were produced to the court to begin the formal trial of the case.
The deposition began at 11 am at Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions’ Judge’s Court of Judge Md Jahurul Haque. The deposition continued up to 2.20 pm when the court fixed August 11 for recording the depositions of more witnesses.
On June 5, the same court deferred the recording of the deposition of the witnesses to begin on July 8 as the complainant of the case Mashihur Rahman could not appear in the court due to illness.
Besides, a juvenile court on May 20 framed charges against another accused, Khadiza alias Sumi, 11, a domestic help. The court also granted her bail in the case.
On August 16 last year, police recovered the bodies of Special Brach Police Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna from their Chamelibagh residence in the capital.
Later, the couple’s only daughter Oishee surrendered to the police confessing to her involvement in the killing.
Police in the charge sheet of the case on May 9 accused Sumi of assisting the murders. Oishee’s friends were accused of providing shelter to her.
On May 6, this court framed charges against schoolgirl Oishee and two of her friends, Rony and Jony, in the case. Earlier, Oishee gave a statement in a court saying that she had killed her parents with help of housemaid Sumi.
