The Speedy Trial Tribunal-3 of Dhaka on Sunday framed charges afresh against Oishee Rahman along with her two friends in the case filed against them for killing Oishee’s Police Officer father Mahfuzur Rahman and her mother Swapna Rahman.
Judge of the tribunal ABM Sajedur Rahman framed charges against them for killing and trying to conceal the bodies of the couple. The court fixed December 4 to restart the trial when it would record the depositions of the witnesses.
Earlier on May 6, Judge of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court framed charges against
Oishee and her friends- Mizanur Rahman Jony and Asaduzzaman Rony. Earlier, the trial began on June 5 with recording the depositions of witnesses.
Meanwhile, a juvenile court on May 20 indicted the other accused of the case, Khadiza Akhter Sumi, a domestic help of the slain couple as she was under 16 when the incident occurred.
On August 16 last year, police recovered the decomposed bodies of Special Branch Police Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman from their Chamelibagh residence in the city. Later, Oishee surrendered to the police station confessing her involvement in the killing.
On October 21, the Home Ministry issued a gazette notification to transfer the case to the speedy trial tribunal for quick trial. Later, the Judge of Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court Court transferred the case to this tribunal on November 12. Out of 57 witnesses, the previous court had recorded the depositions of 19 before the case was shifted to the tribunal.
The 19 witnesses may be recalled by the court to testify once again in the case, said Defense Counsel Mahbub Hasan Roni.
