A mobile court here on Saturday fined LDP Secretary General Dr Redwan Ahmed, who is contesting the impending national election with ‘sheaf of paddy’ symbol from Cumilla-7 constituency, for using Khaleda Zia’s photo in his poster.
The court headed by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Naima Islam fined Dr Redwan Tk 10,000 for violating the election code of conduct.
Naima Islam said the court fined
Dr Redwan Ahmed for not removing his posters and banners depicting Khaleda’s photo despite an Election Commission ultimatum of 24 hours.
Earlier on Wednesday, the EC sent a letter to the BNP saying that Oikyafront and the 20-party alliance candidates are not allowed to use Khaleda Zia’s photo as the head of the party in poster, banner or any other election publicity materials.
